walking down to ft. lee virginia on the 4th of july they’re playing guns and roses as smoke fills the sky looking over the fence they go marching by hot night in ft. lee virginia where they learn to fight bittersweet virginia you were always bittersweet so goddamn bittersweet you were always bittersweet and it’s not for me, and it’s not for you and it’s not for me, no, no, and it’s not for you inside ft. lee virginia on the 4th of july they set the sky on fire over the top of the rise this is all for you, as long as you don’t change your mind but sure as grass grows green they’ll send you to fight bitter virginia why do you got to be bitter now so goddamn bitter and you can’t make a sound it’s not for you, can you hear me you’ll change your mind in a year or two as you open your eyes you’ll change your mind sweet, oh sweet virginia she belongs to me, and she belongs to you

watch the players come and go roll the dice roll the dice the first roll the dice the first one out the window lungs full of mediocrity take stock of me small talk is no talk at all bit by bit bit by bit by baby then I bit my tongue when you tried to kiss me twist my arms behind my back when you run down the stairs it feels like a temblor to me who ever who ever said that who ever said that you’re the same as me roll the dice roll the dice, the first one out the window (chorus) twist my arms behind my back who ever who ever said that that you’re the same as me

white lies 04:21
you pack your bags you lock the doors walk down thirteen floors you take the bus, you take it slow breathe in before you let it all go you’re headed to madison they need you in madison the air is hot the air is still but a job’s a job even the rumor mill and a man is telling you no need to get mad, son you fool yourself, think when in rome you aren’t ready to go home so you run their rumors you’re running rumors you go mad in madison so you leave madison behind and bring back little snow white lies you survive by serving little white lies over whiskey and wine and never, not once do you falter you serve us little snow white lies too much whiskey and wine makes it harder to read between the lines as we close our eyes, drink in the lies and give over one step, two steps back, walkin’ round town like you never left

two in the morning, he's sitting in the kitchen all the windows open, the scanner on high his eye on the hospital driveway this is how an ambulance chaser passes the san francisco night lights flash, he bolts outside, hops on his street legal dirt bike follows the smoke in the sky thinking about moving on at the scene there's a building on fire flames shooting up fifteen feet higher as the lens flares the firemen puff their chests grab the ladder and they're rushing inside funny how a day a dollar starts to feel just like a collar he’s thinking about moving on shutterbug, circling fly, sucks soul from the scene with prying eyes and now all that he’s seeing is the victims, try as you might, you can’t stay blind. but his phone keeps on, on ringing shortwave keeps promising a killing the 10 o'clock's waiting "c'mon man, i've got a deadline." funny how a day a dollar, starts to feel just like a collar our ambulance chaser, he's thinking about moving on

rothko 03:56
rothko and clyfford and mary alice summer of 1943 rothko and clyfford and mary alice knocking round berkeley saying won’t you come won’t you come down to the gallery stand here, no there, no here, no there, a little closer tell me what do you see and he’ll shake, shake, shake the canvas clean and he’ll shout, shout his victory but when you say I see red, all I see is red, he’ll tell you no no no, no no no it’s about myth in the modern conscious it’s a skeptic’s society it’s a room of mystic experience it resolves eternal need it’s not about love never love, never you and me it’s his very own birth of tragedy red he said? this is not red it’s the space between you and I it’s the will of the hard black night this is the handle of the knife in 1970 this is a study in red (3x) and his whole— too afraid of real, it’s surreal and the color that’s been chasing him is getting closer. pick up the knife or settle down to a life of black and red

she wrote oh, she wrote it all down not exactly how it happened, no, it’s all turned around there was this fetching girl and a tall lean man all the girl loved were words and the man, he wasn’t the first to fall victim to her imagination she wrote that all he loved were birds not the free kind, the leashed hunting hawk kind the villain and the heroine were once in love it’s a fierce grip he’s got on her, he’d like to think so, but there’s no there there, she looks through him like a kaleidoscope lovesick and comatose come down off your high horse heart on the table, under the knife, give up the ghost to save your life she wrote, she wrote it all down he loves his hunting hawks, but she’s no bird of prey she chose her favorite words gonna end this thing today everyone knows a caged bird don’t sing she smiles at him, gives a little laugh, says here it goes. “i’m an ingénue with the wherewithal i’m gonna give you a little denouement there’s no panacea for you tonight give up the ghost to save your life” the villain and the heroine, were once in love “i’m an ingénue with the wherewithal i’m gonna give you a little denouement there’s no panacea for you tonight give up the ghost to save your life” lovesick comatose and close come down off your high horse

bad plans 02:29
he’s got a good ship she’s got bad plans he’s never gone under but she knows how to throw down she, she’s a stormy sea the mast falls like timber and she’s rockin’ the boat, rockin’ the boat the deck breaks in splinters and she’s rockin’ the boat, rockin’ the boat he drops anchor she knows it’s not over she waves her white flag but he knows he can’t trust her he, he, he’s taking on the sea he lights the cannons and he’s rockin’ the boat, rockin’ the boat she throws down lightning and she’s rockin’ the boat, rockin’ the boat then he’s gone overboard he’s gone over he’s gone under she swirls him round and round charybdis was her sister, after all circe her mother underwater she asks him can you keep a secret? i don’t care who you are, i’m gonna pull you under, keep you under because I can.

about

bio:

we.are.hunters.
of the next song
the new sound
of ourselves, and our satellites

we hunt the why and the how and the right combination
we are hunted by the lurking, great, wild, realization
that all we are is what we think, create, remember, and send into the ephemeral whatever
